A grooming report card is a digital summary of the appointment — what services were done, how the pet behaved, any notes for next time, and ideally a photo — sent to the client after pickup. It sounds simple. The impact is extraordinary.

Why Report Cards Work

Three things happen when a client receives a personalized report card:

1. They feel seen. A generic "thanks for your visit" text is nice. A text that says "Luna was a superstar today! She did great with her ears. We used the vanilla shampoo she loves. Here's her photo!" is unforgettable.
2. They share it. Pet photos go on Instagram, in group chats, and in dog breed Facebook groups. Every share is a free referral with social proof attached.
3. They come back. Clients who receive report cards rebook at significantly higher rates than those who don't. The card creates an expectation — and they want to see next visit's card.

What to Include in Every Report Card

• Pet's name in the message header — never a generic greeting
• Services completed (bath, full groom, deshedding, teeth brushing, etc.)
• A behavior note: how the pet did, what they were nervous about, what they loved
• Any health or coat observations ("Max's ears were a little pink today — worth a vet check")
• Grooming notes for next time (blade length, preferred products)
• One photo — ideally a "finished" shot or a candid during the appointment
• A rebooking prompt: "See Luna again in 6 weeks?" with a direct booking link

The report card moment — when the client is holding a freshly groomed dog and has just seen a great photo — is the peak of their enthusiasm. A simple "Ready to book Luna's next appointment?" with a link converts at an extraordinary rate. This is how you build a calendar that fills itself.
