Migrate:

• Active clients with a visit in the last 12 months
• Each client's pets — name, breed, age, any health notes
• Upcoming appointments already booked
• Grooming preferences for regular clients ("half-inch on body, longer ears")

Leave behind:

• Clients you haven't seen in 2+ years — they're likely not coming back
• Completed appointment history from more than a year ago — not worth the data entry
• Old invoices and payment records (keep physical copies for accounting)

The Migration Plan (Done in a Weekend)

1. Friday evening: Create your Animal Friends OS account. Set up your services and pricing. Configure your business hours. Takes 60–90 minutes.
2. Saturday morning: Import or manually enter your active client list. You only need name, contact info, and pet details.
3. Saturday afternoon: Enter all upcoming appointments. Check the calendar looks correct. Configure automated reminders and send yourself a test.
4. Sunday: Test the online booking widget. Book a test appointment. Confirm the staff schedule is loaded. Walk through a simulated checkout.
5. Monday: Go live. Use the software for every appointment. Paper stays in a drawer as a safety net, but you're operating digitally.

Communicating the Change to Clients

Clients don't need to know about your internal systems change. But if you're adding online booking for the first time, a simple text to your list works: "Good news — you can now book online anytime at [your website]. We've also set up automatic reminders so you'll never miss an appointment."
