Prefer Vonage over Twilio? Animal Friends OS supports both. Connect your Vonage account for appointment reminders, booking confirmations, and two-way client messaging. Same BYOS philosophy: you own the number, you control the costs, you keep it if you leave.
Animal Friends OS lets you bring your own Stripe account, your own SMS provider, and your own accounting system, instead of forcing you onto a bundled stack.
Enter your Vonage API Key and API Secret in Animal Friends OS settings, along with your Vonage virtual number. Outbound messages route through the Vonage Messages API. Inbound replies hit your configured webhook and appear in the Animal Friends OS messaging inbox. The behavior is identical to the Twilio integration: same features, different provider.
All the same automated messages available with any SMS provider: appointment confirmations, day-before reminders, two-hour alerts, boarding check-in and checkout notifications, daycare attendance alerts, and custom messages from the CRM. The message templates are the same regardless of provider.
Some businesses have existing Vonage accounts from their phone system. Others find Vonage pricing more competitive for their message volume. Some prefer the Vonage dashboard and reporting tools. Animal Friends OS gives you the choice instead of making it for you.
Step one: log into your Vonage API dashboard and copy your API Key and API Secret. Step two: purchase a virtual number if you do not have one. Step three: enter the credentials in Animal Friends OS under Settings, SMS Provider, Vonage. Step four: set the inbound webhook URL to receive client replies.
The point is choice. If Vonage has better rates in your region, use Vonage. If you already have a Vonage number that clients know, keep it. Animal Friends OS lets you bring your own SMS provider instead of bundling it at a markup.
