Say it out loud
If you have to spell it on every phone call, it is too clever. Pick something a client can type after hearing it once.
Keep it short
Shorter names are easier to remember and fit on a van, a sign and a business card.
Skip hyphens and numbers
People forget them, and they cause misdirected email. If the plain name is taken, add a word instead.
Match your business name
The closer the domain is to the name on your sign and your social pages, the easier you are to find.
Add a word if needed
Words like grooming, pets, daycare or boarding can make a taken name available and tell people what you do.
Think about the town
If your business is local, a town or neighborhood in the name can help people and local search, but only if you would keep the name if you moved.

Questions owners ask
How much is a .com domain name?
$24.99 a year, or $19.99 a year for Animal Friends OS customers. The renewal price is the same as the first year.
Who owns the domain I register?
You do. It is registered in your name, and you can transfer it to another registrar later, subject to normal registry rules such as the waiting period after a new registration.
What if the name I want is taken?
Try adding a word that says what you do, like grooming, daycare or boarding, or a short word like pet or paws. Avoid hyphens and numbers.
Do I need a domain to have a website?
You can start without one, but a domain in your own name looks more professional, is easier to remember, and lets you have business email at your own address.
Does the domain renew automatically?
Auto-renew is on by default, and we send reminders before the expiry date. You can turn it off.
Can I buy other endings like .net or .pet?
Search shows which endings are available and the price of each before you buy. Prices for endings other than .com are shown at search time.
Can I use a domain I already have?
Yes. Tell us when you join the list. Connecting or transferring a domain you already own is part of the plan.
Can I buy a domain today?
